A survey conducted recently shows that mobile phone recycling is gaining momentum with more and more Britons opting for it to earn extra cash. In the previous month, £2.63 million was earned just through cell phone recycling. On an average, most of the mobile phone fetched £59.58 to the recyclers. The trade in of mobiles has also increased by about 30 per cent over the last year.
The increase in cell phone recycling is partly due to an increase in smart phones available in the market and people are increasingly demanding new technology so that they can use just one mobile phone instead of several devices. Devices such as MP3 music players are being recycled too as people are opting for smart phones which can be used for music too. Apple iPhones and Blackberry are the two mobile phones topping the consumer demand. They are certainly not cheap either. A new iPhone costs about £475 pounds. Since laptops, cameras, TVs and many other mobile phones are now being replaced by smart phones, many prefer to get everything in just one device, even if that means shelling out some extra money.
Mobile phone users can use cell phones for not only downloading music and playing games but also for watching videos and many more functions. It makes absolute sense to switch to a more costly phone and turn in the old mobile phone for recycling. The money received from recycling can be directed towards paying for a new phone.
