Did you know that the Apple iPhone has touched 8.3% of the world’s cell phone market? I would attribute this partially to the success of cell phone recycling campaigns wherein the old mobile phones are turned in for refurbishment. Any Apple iPhone, during such refurbishment projects, which can be reused gets resold. Not only are such refurbished iPhones more affordable for majority of the people who like Apple phones, but also contribute to the significant 8.3% market share that Apple iPhones currently enjoy in the market.
In the last quarter itself of 2011, Apple sold 37 million iPhones and the entire 2011 witnessed around 93 million iPhones being shipped worldwide. Apple undoubtedly has cornered the entire mobile phone market. Recycling is not only beneficial for our environment and our future but also translates to more people being able to afford it. Many consumers find it difficult to purchase a mobile when it gets released for some hundred pounds. They then look for other ways to afford it, unless there are some free deals in place which give away phones with a new contract.
Even though this market share is being shared with the older versions of iPhones, it still is a good achievement. Worth mentioning is the fact that cell phone recycling makes it possible for iPhones to become affordable to many. An added bonus is that you also get to earn some extra cash each time you turn in your old phone for mobile phone recycling.
